mindfulness

“The tree of silence bears the fruit of peace.” Proverb

Mindfulness is defined as paying attention, moment to moment, without judgement to that which is in the present moment. By developing and practising the skill of mindfulness we develop the capacity to be present in our lives, and to develop our abilities for compassion, curiosity, creativity, acceptance and self-control. Mindfulness provides an opportunity to pause, to breathe and to radically accept the present moment as it unfolds. It also provides a portal to enter stillness and the space from which compassionate action can emerge. Mindfulness has the potential to free us from the busyness that is often hailed as necessary for a worthy existence in the western world.

“Silence is a source of great strength.” Lao Tzu
